機動戦士ガンダム /Kido Senshi Gundam episode 42
Mobile Suit Gundam – 42
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Solar Ray fires, destroying half of the Federation forces as well as Degwin’s peace delegation and General Revile. Kycilia receives word that Great Degwin is now missing and believed destroyed, so she has her ship Gwazine head directly to A Baoa Qu with Char to report to Gihren. Meanwhile, White Base arrives just after Solar Ray’s attack and receives new orders. Amuro believes the Zeon weapon to be similar to the Federation’s Solar System weapon. Gwazine arrives and when Char laments that there will be no Gelgoogs for him to fight in, Kycilia suggests he take the 80% complete prototype Zeong out. Kycilia reports to Gihren, who’s disappointed the Federation is still fighting so well but confident in the outcome. He confirms to Kycilia that their father was killed when his ship was destroyed, citing that Great Degwin simply moved too far out before Solar Ray fired.
Char is shown the Zeong and told it is 100% functional, even if it doesn’t have legs. Outside, the Federation forces are taking heavy losses but a Federation reinforcement fleet with White Base arrives, causing Kycilia to order Char to take out said fleet. Char does and engages Gundam. After a brief exchange of fire, Amuro breaks free in order to get to A Baoa Qu. On the Zeon base, Kycilia confronts her brother and shoots him in the head for killing their father. She tells the staff they can file charges against her after the battle and she takes command. As Federation mobile suits break through, Kycilia asks why the Zeon suits aren’t doing as well and learns most of the pilots are rookies. Amuro breaks through the defensive line and is soon found by Char, who immediately engages Gundam. However, he quickly realizes that he and Zeong are no match for Gundam and Amuro.
Thoughts/Review:
Lots of explosions and battles.
So, Gihren gets executed by Kycilia for Gihren basically executing their father. Well, I suppose there’s no time like the present as far as Kycilia is concerned. Considering the series has only one episode, its too little too late since it appears Gihren gambled everything on Solar Ray and his defensive fleet. However, like in (US) football when the defense does an all-out blitz, if the offensive guy with the ball gets into the secondary, they can gain a lot of yards and possibly score. That’s what’s happening here with Amuro and other Federation mobile suits carrying the ball and making big gains. Of course, there is Char to contend with, but that won’t be more than a nuisance as I see it.
Not much more for me to say at this point so its onto the next episode to see how it all ends.
